Val McDermid wins the CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger Award

Crime writer Val McDermid has been named as the recipient of this year's CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger Award, which honours outstanding achievement in the field of crime writing.

The announcement was made by the Crime Writers' Association in recognition of her work over more than 20 years. McDermid was presented with the Cartier Diamond Dagger at a champagne reception at a central London hotel on Thursday 6th May.
Last year McDermid was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the ITV3 Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards, whose partners include the CWA. She has written 23 novels, and has recently switched publisher to Little, Brown.
